A Great Day For Dogs

To the Editor:

Our second annual Strutt Your Mutt! dog walk, fundraiser was a huge success. The day was a collective effort of dog friendly vendors, professionals, and volunteers who were responsible for so many smiles and friendly wags.

Just in case anyone missed the “doggone” fun, check out our slide show at www.newtownparkandbark.org.

We would like to acknowledge the Fairfield Hills Authority and Parks and Recreation Department for their continued support, and our event sponsors: Canine Training Behavior Services of Wilton; and the Mt Pleasant Hospital for Animals, who also offered microchipping and nail clipping throughout the day.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr Murray for sharing with us the remarkable intellect of her sheepherding dogs and to Officer Figol with K-9 dog Baro, who made the day extra exciting by demonstrating some seriously cool canine talents!

A huge round of applause to all raffle basket and (doggie) contest winners!

To our volunteers, from Brownies to Senior Girl Scouts and the Newtown High Animal Concerns Club; thank you for joining us, your support is very meaningful. We look forward to working with all of these youth groups in the future.

Our deepest appreciation to our very own “Leader of the Pack” and MC, Jeff Tolson. We truly appreciate your time and commitment to the day!

To our entire Newtown community, we greatly value your interest and support toward our continuing effort to build a dog park in town. Please feel free to join us at our next meeting, June 21, at 6:30 pm, in the Newtown Municipal Center, room 1.

With sincerest gratitude,

Kathry Simonds
