HSO To Ring In The New Year With ‘Salute To Vienna’

HARTFORD — “Salute to Vienna,” considered by many to be the world’s greatest New Year’s concert, will return to Hartford for one performance only on Friday, December 31, at 7:30 pm, in Mortensen Hall at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.

Hartford Symphony Orchestra, who will be performing the Bushnell concert on New Year’s Eve, will then offer the program in Boston’s famed Symphony Hall on Sunday, January 2.

The live celebration will showcase HSO, conducted by guest conductor Sascha Goetzel, with Johann Strauss Jr overtures, polkas, marches and ballet waltzes, performed by members of Hungarian National Ballet, and selections from the operettas Giuditta, The Gypsy Princess, Countess Maritza and others featuring soprano Ingrid Mankhof and tenor Thomas Piffka.

The Hartford “Salute to Vienna” performance will be followed by an optional New Year’s Jazz Dinner catered by Max at The Bushnell in the Autorino Great Hall with entertainment provided by the HSO Jazz Quartet, dancing and a champagne toast.

Tickets to the concert only range from $25 to $75 and are available through HSO Ticket Services at 860-244-2999, Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5 pm, and online at www.HartfordSymphony.org.
