Albert George Kovachik

Army Air Corps Veteran

Albert George Kovachik, 83, of Fairfield, died October 20, in his residence. Mr Kovachik was born in Stratford, the son of Anna and Samuel Kovachik.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Norris Kovachik; his five children, including Carolyn Mandarano and her husband, Mike, of Newtown; one sister; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Albert G. Kovachik, Jr.

A graduate of Brown University, Class of 1949, Mr Kovachik was captain of the basketball team there. He later played semipro basketball. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.

Mr Kovachik was a resident of Fairfield since 1956, a member of the Masonic Order of America, St John’s Lodge #8, and a life member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Trumbull. He was a retired vice president of sales and marketing for the Valley Cast International Co.

The family would like to thank the staff at VITAS Hospice care and AAA Nursing, especially Shaneen, Michelle, Sharon, and Wilma; and the staff and aides from Specialty Personnel Services, especially Theresa, Claudia, and Lyneisha.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 23, at 11 am, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Trumbull. Burial will be in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Calling hours were scheduled at Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Avenue in Bridgeport, on Thursday, October 22, from 4 to 7 pm.
