There were a host of first-place finishes (individuals as well as relay teams) but the Newtown Torpedoes age group swim team dropped a recent meet with Watertown.

The 9/10 boys scored some big points while going 1-2 in the 200 medley relay as Richard Huffman, Kurt Daum, Zach Carfi and Adam Harrison came in first ahead of Robert Linden, Justin Villamill, Michael Lally and Anders Fogelberg.

Individual first-place finishers for the boys across all the age groups included Patrick Donnelly (8 and under boys, 25 butterfly), Carfi (9/10 boys, 50 butterfly and 100 individual medley), Ryan Tita (11/12 boys, 50 breaststroke), Jordan Simonds (11/12 boys, 50 freestyle), Kyle O’Connor (13 and over boys, 100 butterfly) and Luke Fiore (13 and over boys, 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley).

Also swimming to wins were the 11/12 boys’ 200 freestyle relay of Andrew Argraves, Villamill, Mason West and Tita and the 13 and over 200 freestyle relay of Tony Fragoso, Nate Crevier, O’Connor and Fiore.

The girls swam well in the meet, starting with a first-place finish by the 11/12 200 medley relay team of Leah Barrett, Maggie Atkinson, Jackie Hoolihan and Krysta Gates. First-place finishes were earned by Amy Martinelli (8 and under girls, 25 freestyle), Caitlyn Linden (8 and under girls, 25 butterfly), Abby Fagerholm (9/10 girls, 50 butterfly), Zoe Eggleston (9/10 girls, 50 breaststroke), Barrett (11/12 girls, 100 freestyle and 50 backstroke), Maggie Hoolihan (11/12 girls, 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle), Gates (11/12 girls, 200 freestyle and 50 breaststroke) and Atkinson (11/12 girls, 200 individual medley).

Both the 9/10 girls 200 freestyle relay team of Fagerholm, Eggleston, Jane Sclafani and Emily Maher and the 11/12 girls 200 freestyle relay team of Gates, Isabel Gleason, Hoolihan and Barrett) swam to wins.
