DCA Season On Sunday
DANBURY â Pianist Olga Vinokur will perform on Sunday, September 18, at 3 pm, at Ives Concert Hall on the midtown campus of Western Connecticut State University.
The performance, presented by Danbury Concert Association in cooperation with the universityâs music department, will be the opening concert of DCAâs 2005-06 season.
Ms Vinokur has performed as soloist, chamber musician and with orchestra throughout North America, Europe and Israel. She received first prize in the Prokofiev Piano Competition in Russia, her native land.
Her Danbury program will include works by Mozart, Chopin, Scriabin, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff.
Due to construction in the lot adjacent to Ives Hall, concertgoers should allow extra time to reach the hall. They may park nearby on Fifth Avenue or at the universityâs Midtown Parking Garage, located on White Street opposite Eighth Avenue. (Because the garage is a short walk from Ives Hall, shuttle bus service will be available to and from the hall).
Danbury Concert Association, a non-profit organization that has brought live performances to the area for over 60 years, presents a series of four concerts in a fall and spring season. Admission is by subscription, at $36 per adult for all four concerts. Through a grant from the Danbury Cultural Commission, those 18 and under are admitted free.
Other concerts in the 2005-2006 series will feature The Aspen Ensemble, the American Brass Quintet, and Camerata New York.
