*Acoustic Café will host an all-grrl rock band this weekend. MILK, according to its press, “doesn’t play it safe, taking charge of their style and compositions.” Showtime is 9 pm, admission is $5, and Chrsitine Havarilla opens. The café is at 2926 Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport (call 203/335-3655 or email akoostix@aol.com for details).

*My mistake: All this time I had been listing (and even mentioned in this space last week) a 3 DOORS DOWN and FUEL show on March 13 at The Webster Theatre in Hartford when in fact that particular show is going to be across town at the Connecticut Expo Center. radio 104 is sponsoring the show, calling it the “MRQ Meltdown.” Tickets are on sale for $25 each through tickets.com, any Strawberries or Coconuts store, or over the phone at 800/477-6849. Tickets are not being sold at the Expo center’s box office. The box office will only be open the night of the show if there are any tickets remaining at that point. My apologies for the mix-up.

*Red House Records is planning a major release on May 8 in celebration of BOB DYLAN’s 60th birthday. A Nod To Bob is “an artists’ and label tribute to Bob Dylan,” an effort by Red House to honor the ongoing impact and legacy of the seminal Americal folk/rock figure. The collection of songs will have 14 newly-recorded tracks presenting well-known and obscure Dylan songs.

Among the recordings will be “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright,” by RAMBLIN’ JACK ELLIOTT, the sidekick of Woody Guthrie and said to be a major influence on the young Dylan; SPIDER JOHN KIERNER, of the legendary 60s trio Koerner, Ray & Glover, doing traditional blues associated with Dylan; bluesman BUDDY DAVIS, backed by former Dylan colleague Levon Helm (The Band) and John Platania (a Van Morrison guitarist); and SUZZY & MAGGIE ROCHE (a/k/a THE ROCHES), with their take on an unfamiliar song off Dylan’s Basement Tapes.

The album will also feature work by folk performer LUCY KAPLANSKY, mandolin and fiddle performer PETER OSTROUSHKO, TOM LANDA & THE PAPERBOYS, HART-ROUGE (a Quebec-based group that interprets their Dylan selection en française), MARTIN SIMPSON, and contemporary songwriting masters GREG BROWN, JOHN GORKA, ELIZA GILKYSON and CLIFF EBERHARDT.

The album’s tentative track listing includes the following: “Restless Farewell,” “Pledging My Time,” “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right,” “A Sweetheart Like You,” “I Want You,” “Love Minus Zero/No Limit,” “Girl From the North Country,” “With God On Our Side,” “It Ain’t Me, Babe,” “Delia,” “All Along the Watchtower,” “The Clothesline Saga,” “Boots of Spanish Leather” and “Tomorrow Is A Long Time.”

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you... on the road.
