Resident Among Those Cast In âRocky Horror Showâ
BRIDGEPORT â Playhouse on the Green, a 54-year-old not-for-profit theater company in residence at a 228-seat jewel-box theater in the heart of downtown Bridgeport, will continue its 2008-09 season of plays and musicals with Richard OâBrienâs outrageous musical comedy The Rocky Horror Show, which will runs for ten performances only, October 24 to November 8, including three midnight shows.
Since this sexy parody of horror and science fiction films premiered onstage in London in 1973, The Rocky Horror Show has become a rock nâ roll musical phenomenon around the world, and now it is poised to take Bridgeport by storm. Featuring a Transylvanian transvestite, a cryogenically preserved motorbiker, and an untraditional version of Frankensteinâs monster, Rocky Horror is perfect Halloween-time fun, whether you grew up doing âThe Time Warpâ or youâve never experienced this classic kitsch.
Matt Schicker is producing the upcoming production. The Rocky Horror Show is being directed and choreographed by Steven Smeltzer (Barnum â The Musical), with Timothy Heavner as musical director, and Jim DeVivo, who is the leader of Bridgeport-area band Greasewheazer, as band leader.
The cast of 14 includes Jessica Ferraday, Jackson Gerber, Sandy Hook resident Tracy James, Renee Kaminsky, John Lahey, Gina Lariccia-Garcia, Jim Nassef, Cheryl Papsidera, Shannon-Courtney Porper, Nigel Rees, Brian Riley, Corey Scheys, Kevin Thompson, and Jimi Winter.
Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm; also Thursday, October 30, at 8 pm; Saturday, October 25, at midnight; and Fridays, October 31 and November 7, also at midnight.
