Singles Dance To Help Feed Hungry

NORTH HAVEN — Connecticut ConTacts, one of the state’s leading singles organizations, is sponsoring its sixth annual Benefit Ball on Saturday, November 25, from 8 pm to 1 am, at the Holiday Inn North Haven, 201 Washington Avenue (Route 5). This special event will benefit the Connecticut Food Bank, a non-profit organization dedicated to feeding hungry people. Over 500 singles are expected.

ConTacts is requesting that each person attending bring a non-perishable food item to help feed the hungry for the holidays. ConTacts will match every donation. Items suggested by the food bank include canned and dry goods such as tuna, meats, soups, stews, pasta, rice, beans, vegetables and fruits.

At last year’s event 555 items were donated, and ConTacts matched every donation, giving Connecticut Food Bank 1,200 food items altogether, enough to provide about 730 meals for hungry people.

“People were incredibly generous,” says ConTacts president Tina Auclair. “Some came with bags full of groceries.”

Admission to the gala event is $13, which includes a hot buffet from 8 to 9:30 pm, as well as coffee and dessert at midnight. Dancing is to DJ’s Top 40, soft rock, recent oldies and requests. This is a dressy affair: jackets are requested for men, dressy attire for women.

For further information, directions or a free flyer, call 203/468-1144 or visit ConTacts’ Web site at www.ctcontacts.com.
