Southbury Pediatrics Hosting Information Sessions

SOUTHBURY — To help parents get further acquainted with the services and staff of Southbury Pediatrics, the practice will conduct an information session today, Friday, April 28, at 8:15 am, in the first floor conference room at the Southbury Medical Building, 22 Old Waterbury Road.

This is the first of a series of information sessions that the practice will offer throughout the year.

Conducted by physician assistant Allene Troy, MHS, PA-C, who has worked at Southbury Pediatrics for six years, the 30-minute presentation will introduce parents to the doctors and staff, as well as to their philosophies on issues like breast-feeding, vaccines, and general newborn care. She will give a tour of the practice following the presentation.

“We want to make it easy for parents to get established with a pediatrician,” said Ms Troy. “We’re very easy to work with, and offer the services of physicians certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.”

Ms Troy will discuss benefits to parents like a private exam room to wait in for infants under four months of age to minimize their exposure to germs.

“By doing small things like allowing mothers to wait with their newborns in exam rooms, we can limit a baby’s exposure to the germs in a waiting room, which are an unfortunate fact of life,” said Ms Troy.

She will discuss other benefits of Southbury Pediatrics, a division of Danbury Health Systems, including a skilled and caring staff, convenient office hours, same-day appointments for sick children, and automatic scheduling for well-baby visits up through four months.

In addition, staff has easy access to all the specialists associated with Danbury Hospital, including neonatologists for sick and premature babies, and pediatric pulmonologists, among others.

Southbury Pediatrics has office hours Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and urgent weekend visits by appointments. On-call coverage is provided 24/7.

Southbury Pediatrics serves patients from Southbury, Woodbury, Roxbury, Middlebury, Oxford, Bethlehem, and Newtown. To inquire about future information session dates, call Southbury Pediatrics at 262-4250.
