ED INK: Newtown's Seasonal Unmasking
How can a stranger represent you?
That is the underlying question that Newtown's annual Pizza & Politics
candidate's forum tries to answer each year. It is a Halloween season ritual
in which Newtown voters get a chance to strip away the masks of the
politicians they read about in the newspapers and see in advertising. It is a
great opportunity to get to know these strangers and to determine how well
they represent your views.
This year's forum, sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Newtown
Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for Tuesday night, October 27, at the
Fireside Inn. The doors open at 6 pm, the pizza comes out of the ovens at
6:30, and the candidates start slicing up each other's positions and the
issues at 7:30.
There are many new faces in the races for state and federal offices this year,
so we urge everyone to attend.
