Evelyn Y. Murdy, 75, of Danbury, died on September 8 at Filosa Convalescent Center, Danbury. She was the wife of Roger Murdy.
Mrs Murdy was born November 8, 1925, in Ferriday, Iowa, a daughter of the late Sexton and Lily (White) Miller. After growing up in Brookhaven, Miss., she married and moved to Massachusetts, and later to Connecticut. Mrs Murdy raised two daughters while working for many years as a secretary with several Danbury companies.
Mrs Murdy will be remembered by her friends and family for her warmth and kindness, patience and strength, her gentleness and ready smile.
In addition to her husband Roger, she is survived by two daughters, Brenda Ashmore and her husband, Larry, of Seeley Lake, Mont., and Jane Pearl of Old Greenwich; one brother, Fred Miller, of Brookhaven, Miss., her husband Rogerâs children, Richard Murdy, and his wife Kathy, of Newtown, and Patricia Murdy, of Manchester N.H.; four grandchildren, Tara Ashmore of Missoula, Mont., Richard Murdy and his wife, Amy, Jennifer Meyer and her husband Doug, and Robert Murdy, all of Newtown, and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Jacob Meyer.
Funeral services were held on September 11 at Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division Street in Danbury, with the Rev Mary Louise Howson, senior minister of the First Congregational Church of Danbury, officiating.
Burial was in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
