Ranger's Renaissance
To the Editor:
We are writing to express our profound thanks to the wonderful people at Newtown Animal Control for helping match us with Ranger, our new, two-year-old dog we adopted earlier this month.
This lab-hound-boxer-mastiff-miscellaneous 78-pound guy was found last winter, abandoned, freezing, and extremely underweight on the streets of Newtown. Through rehabilitation and training, the animal control officers, staff, and deeply devoted volunteers nourished him with food, training and love. The care, attention and guidance they clearly gave him set the groundwork for this perfect match for us – a sweet, funny and gentle family member.
The knowledge that NAC staff/volunteers have about their residents, and the passion and commitment they have to finding the right match for families, is inspiring. They also went above and beyond to help us with the transition to bringing our new big baby home and get us set on the right track. The volunteers spent time talking with us and giving us specific insight into his personality and habits, along with advice and tips … and you can see in their eyes how much they care.
When you are thinking about a new dog or cat for your family, take a few trips over to NAC before casting a wider net. Don’t be overwhelmed or judgmental when you visit. Keep an open mind and ask a lot of questions. They will you help find your new best friend if the timing and chemistry are right.
