Women’s Slo-Pitch

 

Walker Industrial Products extended its early-season winning streak to four games with wins over Dunkin Donuts Coolattas (20-1), Fireside Inn (21-10) and Stamford Tent (10-9). The solid pitching of Joanne Didonato and outstanding defensive play of third baseman Jessica Shivy and shortstop Connie Caruso has made the difference. The big hitters have been Lynn Kovac, Sharon Vetrano, and Karen Corkum.

In the win over Stamford Tent, Maria Ross made  the  final out with a heads-up play at second.  Among the hitters were Maria Ross, Kovac, and Corkum. Everyone played outstanding defense with  Joanne Didonato pitching  a solid game.

In other action:

J&J Pools 20, JP Maguire 13: Samantha Henkel and Sally Socci played outstanding defensive for J&J Pools. Pat McNally belted a home run and July Iodice hit the ball hard. For Maguire, Sue Levasseur was the big hitter.

Stamford Tent 12, JP Maguire 3: Everyone played great for JP Maguire. Elyse Dent, and Sue White were big hitters While Renee Knapp and Hilda DeLucia did great in the field. Linda Bowen pitched a great game walking no one.

Huntington Homes 16, JP Maguire 6: Big hitters for Huntington were Patrice Fahey and Andrea Dandrea. Karen Catrinak had two hits and 4 RBI . Everyone hit well in a great first inning, which was stopped by the 10 run rule. The defense was equally strong with Fawn Schmidt’s tenacious third base coverage. Maguire started out the first inning offensively strong with two runs, despite being short players. After a wake up call in the first inning, the team came back defensively with great plays by Jen Sposta at 1st and Samantha Henkel in left field. Big hitters were Becky Osborne and Pat McNally both with doubles.
