*It looks like we’re starting to see the beginning of the end of another summer. Next Friday night, the final concert of Booth Library’s annual outdoor concert series will be presented on the library’s back lawn. The trio TREBLEHOOK will be performing songs from its new album, Hooked, from 7 to 9 pm. Admission is free, and picnics are welcome (please clean up after yourself). Bring chairs and blankets for seating, and bug spray. If the weather turns lousy the concert will still go on, it will just be moved into the library’s lower meeting room.

*After the Treblehook show if you’re up for a short road trip, Newtown native and Bethel resident LUCINDA will be playing at Bank Street Coffee House in New Milford. She is nearly finished with her second album, so the performance Friday night will be an offering of work from her debut and the upcoming follow-up. Admission is free, and the coffee house is a comfortable little place to hang out for a while.

*I know this is cutting it close, but if you happen to catch this column on your way to the KID ROCK show at The Meadows on August 10, here’s some poop on the openers, DOPE. These are the guys who did that remake of Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)” recently; the single was release in time to be the lead single for the American Psycho soundtrack.

The New York City band is comprised of brothers singer/guitarist Edsel Dope and keyboardist Simon Dope, along with guitarist Tripp Eisen, bassist Acey Slade and drummer Preston Nash. Already these guys, on the strength alone of their debut, Felons and Revolutionaries, have shared the stage with no less than ORGY, COAL CHAMBER, FEAR FACTORY, POWERMAN 5000, STATIC X and SLIPKNOT. Now they have joined the Kid Rock tour, which runs with a busy schedule all this month and at least into early September.

As of Wednesday afternoon, tickets were still available for this show, at $39.50 for pavilion seating and $33 for the lawn. Parking gates will be opening at 5 pm, concert gates and 6, and showtime is 8 pm.

*2 SKINNEE J’s will be returning to Hartford next month. When the rap-metal band plays The Webster Theatre on September 11, fans of all ages will be able to not only celebrate the band’s return but also the release of a new album. The show will be the official CD release party for the guys’ new work, Volumizer. It’s been a long wait for this; fans have had to listen to Super Mercado for two years and were only teased with the inclusion of a new song on the soundtrack of this year’s feature film Boys and Girls. However, come September 11 the boys will be out there with all new material… and a new tour bus. The Big Green Bus, all 250,000 miles of her, finally gave her final Farewell (fittingly) on New Year’s Eve.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you... on the road.
