WESTON – Talk about a tough week.

Besides losing a five-game match with Weston on Friday and losing a four-game match with Brookfield on Monday, the Nighthawks also lost co-captain and ace server Chrissy Deweese to a dislocated elbow.

Against Weston, the ‘Hawks dropped the first two games 15-12 and 15-8 before forcing a deciding fifth game with 15-4 and 15-8 wins in games three and four. In the final, though, the Trojans nipped the ‘Hawks, 15-12, for the match victory.

Amanda Marsilio had 20 kills and Erin Carolan added 14 kills of her own. Ashleigh Smarrella recorded 38 assists. Deweese was lost in the second game of the match and had to be transported to the hospital.

In the loss to Brookfield, Marsilio came up with seven kills and Ally Gellert recorded eight digs.

The ‘Hawks will host New Milford on Monday, October 2.
