Council Members Join Study Of Grade 5-6 School
With the town currently considering the construction of a new fifth- and
sixth-grade school, the Legislative Council wants to make sure it has all the
information necessary.
The council will have to approve the financing of the proposed $20 million
project.
The middle school is reportedly full to capacity, and school officials say
they have no choice but to propose a new school.
This week, council chairman Pierre Rochman appointed council members Joe
Borst, Peggy Baiad and Lisa Schwartz to serve on the Board of Education's
project planning committee.
Recently, school officials returned from a trip to Michigan where they toured
a handful of grade five/six schools. Michigan is said to be the first state to
build schools solely for the fifth- and sixth-grade levels.
