Occupation: I have been the owner and manager of Paula’s Café at 49 Church Hill Road for a year. Prior to that, I was a master scheduler for manufacturing companies. I attended high school and two years of college in Rome, Italy, and have taken business management courses at Teikyo Post College in Waterbury.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown for six years. I lived in Waterbury previously. I was born and raised in Rome, and came to the United States in 1967.

Biggest Change Seen in Town: It’s becoming more commercial than the country town that I loved. The town still attracts me. It is very family oriented, and I like the quiet.

Family: My husband, Marco, and I have been married for two and a half months. We were married in the gazebo at The Pleasance. I have two sons, Alexander, 29, who is a firefighter for the city of Waterbury, and Benjamin, 25, who lives with me in Newtown and helps out at Paula’s Café.

Hobbies: I’m getting into gardening. That’s my new hobby. I also like to go to flea markets and enjoy antiquing. I love to go to tag sales and estate sales. I like things with character. I love things that have been made by hand that take time and care to do.

Favorite Books and Authors: I’m not a big reader. I like to read the newspaper to keep up on what’s happening around me.

Favorite TV Show: My favorite show is Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. It’s challenging to see what you know. You learn a lot from it.

Organizations: I want to get involved with a gardening group if I get the time to do it. I also will probably join the Chamber of Commerce. I’m going to attend a couple of meetings first.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: Christmas time. That’s what made me fall in love with Newtown. When I drove down the Main Street and saw all the luminaria, I knew I wanted to be here.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Rome, Italy. Most of my family is still living there.

Personal Philosophy: I believe and like to think that everybody is good. I always see the good part of a person. I also take a positive way of doing things in life. There’s always a solution to any problem.
