New York Man Arrested On Bank Crimes

Police said they arrested a New York man this week on a warrant, charging him with four offenses in connection with an incident last March at the Bank of America at 6 Queen Street.

On July 11, police went to the Westchester County Corrections Department in Valhalla, N.Y., and picked up Ryan Richards, 22, of The Bronx, N.Y., on an extraditable arrest warrant, charging him with third-degree larceny, criminal impersonation, third-degree forgery, and second-degree identity theft.

Police said that on March 2, Richards used false identification to withdraw $6,500 from an unidentified person’s bank account at the Bank of America.

Police said that Richards was later apprehended for allegedly attempting to fraudulently withdraw money from the same bank account at a Bank of America branch office in New York.

Richards was arraigned on the four Newtown-based charges on July 12 in Danbury Superior Court. Richards has not pleaded to those charges.

Richards is next scheduled to appear in court on July 26. Richards was being held on $7,500 bail on July 13 at the Bridgeport Correctional Center.
