Holiday Festival Featured On ‘Dateline Newtown’

The 1999 Newtown Holiday Festival is the topic of a two-part series on the cable television show Dateline Newtown. The current show features Kim Connolly and Mary Tomasiewicz, the co-chairmen of the 1999 Holiday Festival, and Laurie Madaus and Sara Newell, co-chairmen of the house tours.

Hosted by Gary Fetzer and directed by Dan Henry, Dateline Newtown is a local access cable television program that airs every Monday evening at 8 pm on Charter Cable Channel 21. Part one will air on November 22.

The 14th Annual Newtown Holiday Festival will be held on Sunday, December 5, in various locations in the center of Newtown. In Part I of the Dateline Newtown series, Kim Connolly and Mary Tomasiewicz talk about the various events that are being featured at this year’s festival. They discuss the musical groups, the antiques show, the crafts fair, the Victorian tea room, New England Café and activities at the Mathew Curtis House and The Newtown Bee offices. They also cover ticket pricing and availability.

In the second part of the holiday festival feature, Laurie Madaus and Sara Newell provide a history and describe details about the five homes being featured on this year’s tour. Four of the homes have never been included on the tour. The homes will be decorated by members of the festival committee in holiday themes.

Part two will be shown Monday, December 29.
