Birds Of A Feather Flock To Copper Crow

NEW MILFORD — After meeting last year during an art show in neighboring Kent, Copper Crow Gallery owners Denny Good and Suzanne Heilmann realized a common ambition: to open a gallery. When the right location came about their ambition was fulfilled.

Copper Crow will host its official opening on Saturday, August 4. The gallery is at 279 Litchfield Road/Route 202 in the Northville section of New Milford.

Ms Heilmann, of New Milford said, “The property was in a great location on Route 202 and continued to help develop the local art community. Since the opening in June, word has spread about the unique gallery space and both buyers as well as artists are stopping in.”

Ms Heilmann, who attended Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore and School of Visual Arts in New York, provides the gallery with a variety of styles including paintings on wood and slate as well as canvas. However, Ms Heilmann’s favorite media is copper, in which she produces an array of unique pieces of three-dimensional back-lit free standing and wall art.

Denny Good has previously turned her hand to stained glass and jewelry. However, in the past five years — when not working in the garden — Ms Good has been painting large canvases inspired by the local landscapes and barns.

“I am also inspired by Rothko but wanted to interpret the large blocks of vibrant color in to understandable content,” said Ms Good.

On August 4, Ms Heilmann and Ms Good will be sharing their gallery space with guest artists. Copper Crow Gallery is open from 11 am to 6 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For more information call 860-350-3998.
