Early Winter Audubon Ramble

DANBURY — Lillinonah Audubon Society is scheduling an early winter ramble at the Old Quarry Nature Center in Danbury on Saturday, November 25, at 1 pm. The old Quarry re-opened in October with two guided trails.

The Meserve Ecology Trail leads hikers through the mostly forested 40 acres. Along the way, 30 points of interest are marked by plaques describing the area. Another trail highlights the geology of the Old Quarry.

The walk is expected to last about two hours. There are hills and uneven terrain but the pace will be leisurely. Hikers are advised to wear sturdy footwear and otherwise dress for the weather, which could be cold and windy.

Barbara Starr will lead the group, which will meet at Rogers Park Pond. Call her at 748-2599 for directions to the pond or to make a reservation to join the group. The public is welcome and there is no charge.
