Old Master Drawings At Norfolk Library Open November 6
NORFOLK, CONN. â Mia Weiner, a Norfolk resident and dealer in Old Master drawings, will exhibit works from her collection during the month of November in the Norfolk Library, Village Green.
The exhibit will include Dutch, English, Flemish, French and Italian drawings from the Sixteenth to the early Nineteenth Century, and will include works by such artists as Lucio Massari, Jean-Baptiste Wicar, Michel Corneille, Faustino Bocchi, Johann Justin Preisler and others. They will be available for purchase.
Ms Weiner fell in love with Italian Renaissance paintings and drawings when she was an art student at City College in New York. She was drawn to the humanistic ideals portrayed in these early works, and, as a painting and drawing student herself, loved the early techniques.
She worked in a New York Gallery that dealt in Old Master drawings for four years after college, and there honed her skills and learned the business. During those years her interest developed into an obsession, and drawings became her own lifeâs work. She has since expanded her field of expertise to include work from other centuries and other countries.
There will be an opening reception for Ms Weiner on Sunday, November 6 from 4 to 6 pm, which is open to the public at no charge.
In conjunction with the exhibit Ms Weiner will give a gallery talk about the pictures and artists in the exhibit on Sunday, November 14 at 2:30 pm. There is no charge for this program, but reservations are requested and may be made by calling 860/542-5075.
