Church Hill Collision

Police report a two-vehicle accident on Church Hill Road at Hawley School about 5 pm August 1.

Police said motorist Allison S. Palermo, 40, of 9 Turkey Roost Road, who was driving a 1996 Dodge Caravan minivan, waited for a break in traffic on Church Hill Road before she pulled out from the school driveway and started to turn left onto eastbound Church Hill Road.

As Palermo was pulling onto the road, she did not notice westbound motorist Daniel E. Mattila, 32, of 4 Aspen Lane, Sandy Hook, who was driving a 2001 Pontiac Aztek sport-utility vehicle, resulting in a collision, police said. The minivan carried two passengers. Police said there were no injuries.

Police issued Palermo a written warning for failure to grant the right of way from a driveway.

Main Street Accident

Police said motorist Gunnar Lindstrom, 92, of Lakeview Terrace was driving a 1994 Buick LeSabre southbound on Currituck Road and came to a stop behind another stopped vehicle at Currituck Road’s intersection with Main Street about 3:15 pm August 2.

The stopped vehicle then turned left onto southbound Main Street and Lindstrom, who was behind that vehicle in the Buick, also turned left, police said.

In making the left turn, Lindstrom pulled in front of motorist David Shanley, 47, of 10 Fairchild Drive, who was driving a 2000 Grand Caravan minivan northbound on Main Street, police said.

Shanley was unable to avoid a collision with Lindstrom, police said. There were no injuries.

Police said they verbally warned Lindstrom for a stop sign violation.

Rollover

Police said motorist Jonathan Y. Catino, 17, of 11 Taunton Lane, was driving a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-CD auto westbound on Castle Hill Road early on the morning of August 3, when while negotiating a right curve in the road, he lost control of the auto and hit an embankment on the westbound shoulder, causing the auto to roll onto its left side. Catino was not injured. Police verbally warned him for making a restricted turn.

Riverside DUI

Police said motorist Daniel J. Monckton, 18, of 126 Toddy Hill Road was driving a 1992 Ford Mustang GT eastbound on Riverside Road on the evening of August 2 when he went off the road in the Riverside section. Police said they received reports from several residents that Monckton had been driving the Ford recklessly.

 Police said they went to the accident scene and found that Monckton was not injured. Police said they gave Monckton field sobriety tests, after which they charged him with driving under the influence and reckless driving. After processing, police released Monckton for an August 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

Country Club Road

Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of South Main Street and Country Club Road about 5:30 pm August 2.

Police said motorist Jason J. Brolet, 23, of 9 Green Knolls Lane, who was driving a 1987 Chevrolet Celebrity, was making a left turn from Country Club Road onto northbound South Main Street, when he collided with motorist Martha P. Manion, 40, of 36 Toddy Hill Road, who was driving a 1999 Acura Integra. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Brolet for failing to yield the right of way.

Breach Of Peace

State police report they were called to the Alpha House section of the Daytop substance abuse treatment facility in Greenwich House on Third Street at Fairfield Hills about 5:20 pm August 3 to investigate a complaint.

State police said that Kevin Stovall, 17, of Norwalk, who is an Alpha House resident, had allegedly exposed his buttocks to two female staff members and to Alpha House residents.

On investigating, state police charged Stovall with breach of peace. State police placed a $1,000 bond on Stovall following the arrest. Stovall is scheduled to appear August 20 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.

Interstate Crash

State police report that motorist Bruce Crawford, 54, of Manchester, who was driving a 2001 Toyota eastbound on Interstate 84 east of Exit 9 on August 3, stopped suddenly in heavy traffic, resulting in motorist Depinho Crisvane, 21, of Wingdale, N.Y., who was driving a 2001 Ford, striking the rear end of the Toyota.

Crawford reported back stiffness, state police said. State police said Crisvane was following too closely.

Dolly Stolen

Police report that sometime between 6 am and 6:30 pm July 28 someone stole a 1992 Auto-Tow dolly from a driveway on Lakeview Terrace. The 10-foot-long dolly is used in towing vehicles. The dolly is worth $650, representing a case of fourth-degree larceny. Police are investigating.

Jeep Vs Golf Cart

Police report an accident between a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a motorized golf cart on the driveway at Treadwell Park on Philo Curtis Road about 10 am August 3.

Police said Linda Bradley, 50, of Roxbury was driving a golf cart while involved in park maintenance work, when motorist Jill V. Cherry, 44, of 4 Old Hawleyville Road, who was driving the Jeep, failed to see the golf cart and collided with it.

Bradley received some scratches in the accident, police said. There was no enforcement action.

Three Charged

Police report they arrested three youths on warrants August 7 lodging charges against each of second-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.

The three youths turned themselves in at the police station to be processed in the case, police said.

Charged were Nicholas Feola, 18, of 40 Algonquin Trail, Sandy Hook; Ross Proctor, 16, of 74 Butterfield Road; and Paul Oppadisano, 17, of Trumbull.

Police said the charges stem from a July 9 incident on Algonquin Trail in which jewelry and a wallet were stolen from a motor vehicle.

Police released Feola on a $20,000 bond for an August 21 appearance in Danbury Superior Court. Police released Proctor and Oppadisano each on promises to appear August 23 in court.

Drug/Motor Vehicle

Police said they arrested a homeless man on the morning of August 7 on Swamp Road on drug and motor vehicle charges.

Police said they arrested Patrick Ryan, 42, of no certain address, on charges including possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, traveling too fast, misuse of marker plates, operating a motor vehicle while under suspension, and operating a motor vehicle without automotive insurance.

Police said they had stopped Ryan for a motor vehicle violation, after which a search turned up the drugs.

Police held Ryan on a $1,000 bond for an appearance August 8 in Danbury Superior Court.

 

Breach

Police report that at about 8 pm August 8 they went to a dispute which had occurred at a Hundred Acres Road residence and charged Marcus W. Schulz, 48, of 140 Taunton Hill Road with breach of peace in connection with property damage stemming from that dispute.

Police said they released Schulz on a promise to appear August 24 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charge.
