Dorothy A. (Granniss) Ghent, 79, wife of William J. âBillâ Ghent of Sandy Hook, died October 6, in Danbury Hospital. She was born in Milford on July 14, 1931, a daughter of Marion (Kendall) and C. Edward Granniss.
Mrs Ghent was a member of Newtown United Methodist Church for 63 years, and was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.
In addition to her husband, Mrs Ghent is survived by her daughter Cheryl A. Ghent of Sandy Hook; her son, William J. âChipâ Ghent III and his wife, Angela, of Ansonia, 11 grandchildren, a niece and nephew, and her sister-in-law Jeanne Granniss of Virginia.
She was predeceased by a son, Peter Ghent, and a brother, Kenny Granniss.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 11, at 11 am, at Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook. Interment will follow in Zoar Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown, is assisting the family.
