Preschoolers Help Library Celebrate Its Birthday
On the morning of Thursday, June 14, students and staff of the Childrenâs Adventure Center visited the C.H. Booth Library with some birthday surprises the preschool had planned in honor of the Booth Library turning 75 this year.
Sixty youngsters, their teachers, and a number of parents were greeted by Library Director Janet Woycik. The children presented her with bookmarks they had made with the message âWe Love Books,â and two artificial trees on which to display them. The bookmarks, laminated and decorated with brightly colored yarn, are for library patrons to use.
In addition to the bookmarks and trees, the group also brought a six-foot, blow-up birthday cake, three tiers tall with candles on top, in honor of the special birthday. The children enthusiastically sang âHappy Birthdayâ for the staff.
The library staff entertained the preschoolers with stories, songs and rhymes, followed by a puppet show, âThe Dog Who Forgotâ how to bark. The morning culminated with an art project: the children created butterflies out of coffee filters that they decorated.
