Failure To Appear
Newtown police report that on the afternoon of June 5 they charged Carolyn St Pierre, 35, of Waterbury on a warrant with failure to appear in court, driving under suspension, and driving without automotive insurance.
Newtown police said Cheshire police held St Pierre at the Cheshire police station after learning that Newtown police held an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The motor vehicle charges stem from a past incident.
Newtown police released St Pierre on a $250 bond for a June 18 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Platts Hill Road
Police said that a computerized records check indicated that motorist Kirby S. Farrell, 46, of Milford, who was spotted on Platts Hill Road about 11:20 am June 8, had outstanding motor vehicle violations. Police stopped Farrell and charged him with misuse of marker plates, driving under suspension, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving without automotive insurance.
After processing the arrest, police released Farrell on a promise to appear June 26 in Danbury Superior Court.
Watch Found
Late on the afternoon of June 5, police received for safekeeping a Seiko womanâs watch, which had been found in the parking lot of the Ice Cream Shop on Church Hill Road. The watchâs owner should contact police at 426-5841 to claim it.
Treadwell Sunglasses
On the evening of June 8, police received for safekeeping a pair of black-and-yellow sunglasses, which had been found at Treadwell Park on Philo Curtis Road. The glasses were found near the parkâs playground. The owner may claim the item at the police station at 3 Main Street.
Swamp Speed
About 1:38 pm June 7, police stopped motorist Milton Morocho, 18, of Danbury for driving 50 miles per hour in a 25-mph zone on Swamp Road in Botsford. Police arrested Morocho on charges of traveling too fast and driving under suspension. After processing the case, police released Morocho on a $200 bond for a June 24 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Railroad Violation
Police said that at about 5:45 pm June 8, they saw Israel A. Cruz, 27, of 130 Mt Pleasant Road driving a motor vehicle on railroad property at 29 Old Hawleyville Road in Hawleyville. Police charged Cruz with simple trespassing on railroad property and also with driving under suspension.
Following processing, police released Cruz on a promise to appear June 24 in Danbury Superior Court.
Diesel Theft
 Sometime between May 31 and June 6, someone stole approximately 300 gallons of diesel fuel from a construction site at 178 Mt Pleasant Road in Hawleyville, police said. The fuel was stolen from Earth Movers, Inc.
Ginsburg Development Corporation, Connecticut, LLC, is building a 92-unit condominium complex, known as Liberty at Newtown, at that location.
Police ask anyone with information about the fuel theft to contact them at 426-5841.
Twist Hill Mailbox
Sometime on June 5 or 6, someone stole a mailbox from 6-A Twist Hill Lane, police said. The street is off The Old Road, near Currituck Road. Investigating police ask anyone with information on the whereabouts of the mailbox to contact them.
Toddy Hill
Police report they stopped motorist Michael McLaughlin, Jr, 18, of Southbury for an automotive equipment violation at about 11 pm June, 8 while he was driving northward on Toddy Hill Road.
Police charged McLaughlin with improper display of marker plates and driving under suspension.
After processing the case, police released McLaughlin on a promise to appear in court June 24.
The Old Road DUI
 Based on a complaint, police responded to the section of The Old Road, nearer to Currituck Road, at about 11 pm June 7. Police said they had received a report of a large noisy gathering there.
Police said that on arriving, many vehicles that had been parked there, attempted to leave the area. Police said they interviewed a man who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, so they performed field sobriety tests, which he failed.
Also, police said they found drug paraphernalia on the man, which contained a residue that tested positive for narcotics.
Police said they charged Blake E. Nezvesky, 19, of 9 Old Town Road with driving under the influence, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
After processing his arrest, Nezvesky posted an $18 bond and was released for a June 24 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Deer Vs Lexus
 Motorist Amy VanWyck-Hollis, 31, of 11 Pepperidge Road was driving a 2000 Lexus RX-300 sport-utility vehicle southward near 74 Taunton Hill Road at about 1 pm June 5, when a deer ran into the road and collided with the Lexus, police said.
VanWyck-Hollis was not injured, police said.
Mitsubishi Damaged
After having left a 1995 Mitsubishi Galant parked in the Newtown Shopping Village parking lot at 6 Queen Street for about 15 minutes late on the night of June 2, Syed Chowdhury of 57 Dodgingtown Road returned to the auto and found that the trunk was damaged, police said. Police are investigating.
Chevrolet Vs Cadillac
Motorist Evelyn M. Gur, 60, of 14 Beaver Dam Road was driving a 1995 Cadillac DeVille four-door sedan westward on Sugar Street at about 11:15 am June 3, and then stopped to make a left turn onto Elm Drive, when the Cadillac was struck from behind by a westbound 1997 Chevrolet Safari driven by Fadil Bajraliu, 35, of 17 Maple Drive, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Bajraliu a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Route 34 Crash
Motorist Joseph J. Dynia, Jr, 45, of Oxford, who was driving a 2003 BMW X-5 sport-utility vehicle eastward on Route 34 at about 2:50 pm June 7, signaled to turn left into the Misty Vale Deli parking lot and was struck from behind by motorist Kevin T. Madore, 28, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Madore a written warning for following too closely.
Church Hill Collision
Motorist Gina Long, 37, of 35 Poplar Drive was driving a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer sport-utility vehicle eastward on Church Hill Road about 5:50 pm June 6, when she became distracted and then drove into the rear end of an eastbound sedan driven by Kareem F. Ghobrial, 41, of 51 Philo Curtis Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Long for following too closely.
Mt Pleasant Accident
Motorist Jen Kunz, 25, of Norwalk, who was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer sport-utility vehicle eastward on Mt Pleasant Road stopped to make a turn into 147 Mt Pleasant Road at about 2:20 pm June 7, and was struck from behind by motorist Tracy Karolczuk, 23, of 85 Alberts Hill Road, who was driving a 1993 Toyota Camry, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Karolczuk an infraction ticket on a charge of following too closely.
South Main MVA
Motorist Kevin Tyler, 37, of Darien was driving a 1986 Dodge Ram van southward on South Main Street about 2 pm June 4 and then stopped for traffic, police said.
Southbound motorist Rodney Stokes, 44, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck, braked, but skidded on the wet road, and slid into the rear end of the Dodge, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Stokes a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Off The Road
Motorist Richard Bretton, 42, of 10 Blue Spruce Drive was driving a 1997 Ford Mustang convertible southward on South Main Street, near Ethan Allen Road, about 11:15 am June 3, when he lost control of the auto, drifted onto the southbound road shoulder, struck a tree, and then rolled down an embankment, police report. Bretton was not injured. Police gave him a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Ford Vs Toyota
Motorist Thomas Murtha, 47, of 102 Boggs Hill Road, who was driving a 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser sport-utility vehicle northward on South Main Street about 2:20 pm June 7, slowed for traffic, police report.
Northbound Motorist Eric Eissman, 51, of 24 Wills Road, who was driving a 1991 Ford F-150 pickup truck, braked, but struck the rear end of the Toyota, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Eissman a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Traffic Signal
Southbound motorist Jon Young, 32, of Bethel, who was driving a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder sport-utility vehicle, was stopped at a traffic signal on South Main Street, near Sand Hill Plaza, on June 2, when he was struck from behind by southbound motorist William Mazzacca, 43, of Rosendale, N.Y., who was driving a 1998 Ford Taurus, police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps went to the accident, but both drivers refused treatment, police said.
Police issued Mazzacca an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Berkshire Crash
About 3:25 pm June 4, motorist Patricia Reinhardt, 48, of 54 Taunton Lake Road, who was driving a 2002 Volvo V-70, was in a âright turn onlyâ lane at an intersection on southbound Berkshire Road, when the Volvo was struck by southbound motorist Kenneth Piegari, 59, of 10 Lyrical Lane, whose 2002 Subaru Forester had moved from the âstraight throughâ lane to the âright turn onlyâ lane, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Piegari an infraction ticket for failure to drive in the proper lane.
I-84 DUI
State police report they stopped motorist Eric Carlson, 38, of 10 Taunton Lake Drive on eastbound Interstate 84 near Exit 9 at about 11:20 pm June 5 to investigate.
State police said they encountered a slight struggle in attempting to get Carlson out his vehicle, after which he allegedly refused to take sobriety tests and resisted them.
State police charged Carlson with driving under the influence and also with interfering with police. State police held him on a $5,000 bond for a June 6 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Two Tents
Police reported on June 10 that two tents had been found alongside Taunton Lake Road, which they are holding for safekeeping. The owner should contact police at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to claim the tents.
High School Marijuana
Police said an investigation conducted by Newtown High School officials found that a 15-year-old male student there possessed marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
School officials referred the matter to police. Police charged the unidentified boy on the morning of June 9 with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Because the youth is under age 16, his identity is shielded by state law.
After his arrest, police transported the boy to the police station for booking on the drug charges.
Police released the boy into the custody of his mother for a June 23 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court.
Sandy Hook Accident
Motorist Hermina Pressmar of 16 Jeremiah Road, who was driving a minivan eastward on Route 34, stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Route 34 and Toddy Hill Road at about noon on June 9, after which the minivan was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Paul Galloni, of Springfield, Mass., who was driving a truck, police said.
 There were no injuries. Police issued Galloni an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Hattertown Collision
Police report a two-car accident on southbound Hattertown Road, north of Wiley Lane, about 1:30 pm June 9.
 Motorist Donald Lowry, 65, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 1998 Saturn SL-2, slowed down to turn left into a driveway and was struck from behind by motorist Lucimar Rodriques Gomes, 34, of Matthews, N.C., who was driving a 1988 Toyota Camry, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Gomes an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Police gave Lowry a written warning for failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.
High School Fight
A fight between two male students at Newtown High School has resulted in one of them being charged with third degree assault, according to police.
Police said they arrested a 15-year-old boy on the assault charge about 12:34 pm June 10, after he was involved in a fight with another boy under 16.
Police declined to identify the boy who they arrested. State law shields the identity of people charged with crimes who are under age 16.
The victim received minor injuries in the fight and did not require medical attention, police said.
Police transported the arrested youth to the police station where they booked him on the assault charge, after which he was released into his motherâs custody for an upcoming appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court.
Wakeboard
Sometime on May 29 or 30, someone stole an aquatic device known as a âwakeboardâ from a boat that was being kept in a driveway on Merlinâs Lane in the Camelot residential subdivision, off Hattertown Road, police report.
The Liquid Force-brand wakeboard is blue and gold. The item is worth more than $500. Police ask anyone with information about the theft to contact them at 426-5841.
