Sandy Hook Man Pleads Not Guilty In Fatal

PITTSFIELD, MASS. (AP) — A Connecticut man has pleaded not guilty to charges including repeat drunken driving in a five-car crash that killed a Massachusetts woman.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that 35-year-old Frederick Weller of Sandy Hook wiped tears from his face at his arraignment March 2 in Central Berkshire District Court. The charges against him include motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence-fifth offense, and witness intimidation.

Police said Weller’s pickup truck swerved into oncoming traffic February 28 on Route 7 in southern Berkshire County. It collided head-on with a Dodge Neon driven by 52-year-old Russell Brown of Great Barrington, who was injured. Weller’s truck ended up on top of a Toyota Corolla driven by 24-year-old Moira Banks-Dobson of Sheffield, who was killed.
