Louis L. Sciglimpaglia, 83, Newtown, and previously of Greenwich and Stamford, husband of Connie (Repaci) Sciglimpaglia, died January 8, at Danbury Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was the son of Frances (Laraia) and Vito Sciglimpaglia.
Early in his life, Mr Sciglimpaglia was an accomplished musician, and toured with his saxophone and clarinet throughout the country with several big bands of the 1940s. His musical career was carried forward in the 1960s and 1970s with the Sentimental Seventeen orchestra.
In his early forties, he established a new and successful career as an insurance agent for The Prudential Insurance Company, where he attained his LUTCF certification, and was part of the exceptional team winning the Presidential Award in 1978. He was blessed to be married to his wife on February 27, 1949. Their love produced four children, Lisa S. Ricciardi of Newtown, Victor Di Paglia of Mystic, LuAnn S. Di Paglia of Almond, N.Y., and Larry Sciglimpaglia of Portland, Ore. He is also survived by his three grandchildren.
A celebration of his life took place January 10 in the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown. Interment will be private.
