Midyear Graduation At NHS

By Martha Coville

Thirty-four Newtown High School students graduated midyear on Monday, February 4, in a low-key ceremony in the NHS lecture hall. Parents, friends, and district staff, including Superintendent Janet Robinson, were on hand to congratulate the students.

The event included several student speakers. “There were a few students who spoke and they all gave a lot of credit to the FLEX program, as well as to the school’s guidance counselors,” said Board of Education member Kathy Fetchick, who attended the ceremony. The students’ successes, she added, “really spoke” to the dedication of the guidance staff. “The students really spoke so much from the heart,” Ms Fetchick said.

The graduates are Brooke Abrams, Nicole Benzinger, Josh Berkman, Chris Brennan, Jason Brower, Kathleen Brown, Jacqueline Buda, Alex Buckman, Lauren Busser, Dennis Conti, Michelle D’Amico, Carly Doherty, Melissa Dowd, Melissa Fitzsimons, Lucy French, Courtney Gesualsi, Dustin Gill, Kristen Gucciardo, Joe Gureckis, Jacqueline Hornak, Megan Lambo, David Lewis, Chelsea Liker, Bryan Mesko, Hunter Nadriczny, Steven Sabato, Matt Samuelson, Mahmoud Sayed, Diana Schwichtenberg, Meghan Trosan, Garrett Uhde, Brittany Williams, Jon Wright, and Steve Yacko.
