Kelley

Margaret C. Kelley, 83, of 32 Maple Avenue, Shelton, died September 11 at the Bishop Wicke Health Care Center, Shelton, after a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John R. Kelley, Sr.

She was the sister of Mary Bender of Newtown.

Mrs Kelley was born in Astoria, N.Y., November 15, 1916, daughter of the late James T. and Margaret (Muller) Flaherty, and had been a Shelton resident since 1973. Mrs Kelley was the president of the Eastern Housing Corp of Shelton, a company that she ran along with her family. She was the former treasurer and comptroller of the Fred Astaire Dance Corp and the comptroller for the Foundation of Co-Operative Housing in Stamford.

She was the beloved mother of John R. Kelley and his wife, Norma, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Pamela Ann Pierne and her husband, John, of Shelton. She is also survived by two other sisters, Joan Conway of Chestertown, N.Y., and Rose Mary Matthews of New Port Richey, Fla.; five loving grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Patrick Pierne.

Her funeral was held from Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, on September 14 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St Lawrence Church in Shelton. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
