12 Charged With Illegal Alcohol Possession
Police report that after they received an anonymous noise complaint from a residential section of Botsford about 12:03 am on Saturday, May 30, they investigated the incident and discovered that an alcohol party attended by underage people was underway at a residence at 24 Button Shop Road.
Police said they issued alcohol violations to 12 people, all of whom are under the age of 21, which is the minimum legal age for alcohol possession. All people present at the address were under age 21, police said.
The 12 people, ranging in age from 17 to 20, received infraction tickets on charges of illegal possession of alcohol by a minor on private property, police said. Those infractions carry fines of $136.
The 12 people charged are from Newtown, Monroe, Trumbull, and Oxford, according to police.
Charged in the incident were Kathleen Nordvedt, 18, of 24 Button Shop Road; Julia Otero, 18, of Trumbull; Brittany Purciello, 18, of Monroe; Jonathan Waldstein, 18, of Monroe; Brian Gamse, 19, of Monroe; Daniel Deburis, 20, of Monroe; Aaron Berez and Joshua Berez, both 19 and both of Monroe; Nicole Heusser, 19, of Oxford; Timothy McPartland, 19, of Monroe; and two 17-year-old girls.
The 17-year-old girls are categorized as âyouthful offendersâ under state law. State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with such offenses.
Those who received the infractions may either pay the fine or appeal the infraction in Danbury Superior Court. Those who pay the fine would be subject to the prospect of a temporary suspension of their driverâs license, according to police.
