Program On Prostate Cancer

NEW MILFORD — Prostate cancer is treatable and curable, but early detection is a critical success factor. A program with urologist Stephen Yu, MD, on Tuesday, June 22, at 6:45 pm, at New Milford Hospital will outline the signs and symptoms of this disease.

Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer for men in America and the second leading cause of death.

Dr Yu stresses the importance of yearly screenings for men 50 years of age and older, or 45 and older for men of higher risk. He also will provide information on risk factors, such as family history and those who are African American.

Radiation oncologist Joseph Bargellini, MD, medical director of radiation oncology at the New Milford Hospital-Columbia-Presbyterian Regional Cancer Center, will discuss the state-of-the-art treatments available including external beam, brachytherapy, IMRT, hormonal, and chemotherapy.

This program is free and open to the public. Preregistration is requested by calling 860-350-7215.
