Many Supported The St Rose Carnival

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Parish Community of St Rose, I want to thank the many people from our community who supported our annual carnival. It was a great success for many reasons but mostly for all of you who attended and enjoyed the week. We are grateful.

I also want to thank the parishioners of St Rose for their prayers for good weather, their generous donations, their support of the raffle and their time by volunteering to provide our guests with great food and fun. We are truly blessed in one another, and this carnival lends great credence to my belief that everyone doing a little makes a lot happen! God is truly uniting us in ways that are building us into a community of strong faith and commitment to the Lord.

Added thanks to the many local businesses who supported the carnival as booth sponsors. We are grateful for the incredible generosity shared with us by so many of you. Know that we are encouraging our parishioners to support you as generously as you have supported us.

I also express my gratitude to the Sandy Hook Fire Department for bringing one of their fire trucks every night to the carnival and providing our citizens with a first-hand look and explanation of the equipment they use to keep us safe. We pray that God bless these men and women and keep them safe. Thanks also to the members of the Newtown Police for their vigilance throughout the carnival events.

I am always proud when I pick up a copy of The Newtown Bee and see so many of our parishioners involved in the life of this community whether in politics, service, sports, or one of the many other activities available to us. I thank the staff of The Bee for your kindness to all of us, especially our parish.

Finally, a word of gratitude to all of you for your support of us priests and our parish during this very troubling time in our Church. We are well aware of the scandal that has been created and the hurt that victims of these scandals suffer. The communitywide support of our carnival is a sign to us that God is ever present and lives deep in the hearts of His people. I truly feel blessed to have the honor of pastoring the members of St Rose.

Sincerely,

Rev Robert Weiss, Pastor
