Lions Launch Duck Race Ticket Sale

The Newtown Lions Club is selling “adoption certificates” — tickets — for the annual Great Pootatuck Duck Race that will take place again on Memorial Day weekend in Sandy Hook.

The race events will be held on Saturday, May 29, from 10 am to 3 pm, in Sandy Hook center. Hundreds of rubber ducks will be dropped into the Pootatuck River from the bridge spanning Church Hill Road at 2 pm. The first 20 ducks to cross the finish line will win prizes for those who “adopted” them for the day ranging in value from a garden tractor to tanning certificates.

Tickets are being sold through Lions Clubs members and at various locations around town including the Drug Center, the C.H. Booth Library, World of Wine and Spirits of Newtown, the Village Barber Shop, the Sandy Hook Deli, the Little Green Barn, the Gym at Newtown, and other locations. The proceeds will go toward the Lions Tercentennial project, replacement or repair of the seats in Edmond Town Hall.

Tickets will also be sold on weekends throughout town.
