RIDGEFIELD — Violinist Charles Rex will bring Barber’s Violin Concerto to life on December 4 during the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra’s second concert of the season, “B is for Beautiful.”

Led by Music Director Sidney Rothstein, the concert program also features Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, Eroica, a symphony of heroic grandeur. In addition to the musical program, Mr Rothstein and the orchestra will discuss and demonstrate why this piece changed the direction of music.

Mr Rex, who is associate concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, is a native of Florida, where he made his concert debut with the Florida Symphony at age 13. He began his career with the Philadelphia Orchestra, where he played for eight years before accepting his current position.

Mr Rex has performed as a soloist in numerous 20th Century concertos with the New York Philharmonic and other major orchestras.

The performance begins at 8 pm in the Anne S. Richardson Auditorium at Ridgefield High School, 700 North Salem Road (Route 116).  Seating is reserved and tickets, available for $25 to $35 apiece, can be purchased at Ridgefield Music Store or by calling Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra at 203/438-3889.
