Halstead Again Chosen As Sandy Hook Fire Chief

Bill Halstead has been elected to another two-year term as the fire chief of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, Inc.

When he starts his new term on July 1, Chief Halstead will be entering his 26th year as the fire company’s chief. He has been a member of the fire company for 39 years.

Fire company members elected 21 officers at their June 7 annual meeting and dinner. All officers other than the fire chief are elected to one-year terms.

Elected to firefighting officer positions are: Kent Bonsignore, assistant chief; Henry Velthuizen, first assistant chief; Jeff Steinebrey, second assistant chief; Mike Burton, captain; Don Roos, lieutenant; Anthony Capozziello, first chief engineer; and Matt Dobson, second chief engineer.

Elected as fire engineers were: Kevin Stoyak, Paul Pavelo, Steve Stohl, George Lockwood, Jr, John Jeltema, Randy Mueller, and Brendan Walsh.

BJ Halstead was elected at the fire company’s captain for emergency medical services.

Elected as fire company administrative officers were: Brad Richardson, president; George Lockwood, Sr, vice president; Karin Halstead, secretary; Kevin Stoyak, treasurer, and John Jeltema, assistant treasurer.
