An Unforgettable Experience

To the Editor:

I would like to thank the Newtown Police Department for the 2006 Citizen Police Academy course, and especially Sergeant Chris Vanghele for putting the entire course together.

Over the ten weeks, we (the class) learned a lot more about the town and how the police interact with the public. We covered a wide range of subjects, including a trip to the State Forensic Lab — I actually looked forward to Tuesday evenings for the three-hour sessions. My “ride along” with Officer Dave Kullgren on a Wednesday morning proved to be quite exciting, zipping down Route 25 with the siren going.

Thanks to Chief Kehoe, Selectman Rosenthal, and most of all, the men and women of the Newtown Police Department for making the course what it is — Outstanding! If anyone in the town has the opportunity to take the course next year, do so — it will be an experience you won’t soon forget.

Thanks again to the Newtown PD for the time and effort that they put into making this a valuable lesson on what they do to serve the town.
