Police Charge 11-Year-Old Boy With Sex Assaults

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, an 11-year-old boy went to the police station on the morning of July 2 and was arrested on two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury or impairing the morals of a minor, police said.

The unidentified victim of the two incidents was a person under age 16, police said.

Following a May 14 complaint filed with police by the state Department of Children and Families, police investigated the allegations and then sought and received a court warrant to make the arrest.

The incidents for which the boy is charged occurred in a residence and are considered to be isolated incidents, police said. No physical injuries resulted from the incidents, police said.

Police declined to provide details about the incidents that led to the boy’s arrest.

After arrest processing, police released the boy into the custody of a parent for a July 20 appearance at Danbury Juvenile Court.

State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes and court proceedings in such cases are held in closed session, with the court disposition of the charges kept sealed.
