John W. Fritz, 71, of Bethlehem, husband of Lucia Thurston Fritz, died at home, of cancer, on Thursday, November 5. Mr Fritz was born in 1938, and raised in Bridgeport.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he will be sadly missed by his mother, Gertrude Russell Fritz of Newtown; four children; and their families.

As a youth he was a drummer and bandleader and active in many local sports. He was later a drummer with a Dixieland band.

Mr Fritz held various accounting positions with industry in the area, beginning with Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford and ending with The Daily News and Cushman & Wakefield in New York City. He was a broker and a partner in Cavanagh, Fritz and Co., a commercial real estate in Hartford until his retirement in 2000.

In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. The Woodbury funeral home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School Street, is in charge of arrangements.
