Options For High School Students With LD/ADD/ADHD

TRUMBULL — The Connecticut Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities (CACLD) is holding a conference on “Educational Options For Students with LD and ADD/ADHD” on Thursday, April 14, from 5:30 to 9:30 pm, at the Trumbull Marriott Hotel.

The conference is open to high school students with a learning disability and/or attention deficits, their parents, and professionals. Students attend free of charge. There is a small fee for others.

The conference will feature Linda Robertello, director of the College Assistance Program at Iona College, discussing “Successful Transitioning from High School to College.” Following this presentation a panel of college students and recent graduates will discuss what has and has not worked for them. Dr Daria Rockholz, a special education administrator and private college placement consultant is the panel facilitator.

For the student not considering a traditional college, a panel of representatives from various nontraditional college based programs and semi-independent living programs will offer a brief sketch of these alternative programs. Following this workshop a panel of parents with adult LD children will discuss “Letting Go.”

Exhibitors from high schools that serve students with mild learning disabilities, colleges, and alternative programs will be at the conference. There will also be a bookstore and resource materials. For registration and information contact CACLD at 203-838-5010.
