Practiced Dentistry In Newtown For 51 Years
Dr Charles E. Ray, 79, of Middlebury, died November 17 in New Jersey after a brief illness. He was the husband of Anna Lisa (Olsen) Ray. Dr Ray was born May 7, 1928, in Amherst, Mass., son of Frank and Ruth (Eger) Ray.
After graduating from Amherst College and the School of Dental and Oral Surgery at Columbia University, he served as a dentist in the US Navy from 1953 to 1955. He practiced dentistry in Newtown from 1955 until December 2006, and continued a part-time practice in Middlebury until October 2007.
Besides his wife of 47 years, he leaves two daughters, Cheryl Ray of Morristown, N.J., and Kimberly Ray Kirkbride and her husband, Jeff, of Barnegat Light, N.J.; a son, Keith Ray and his wife, Amy, of Manahawkin, N.J.; three grandchildren, Eric, Marcella, and Charlie; and two brothers, Frank Ray of Farmington and George Ray of Middlebury.
Services were held November 20 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Barnegat Light, N.J.
