A Successful Connecticut Challenge
A Successful Connecticut
Challenge
To the Editor:
Thank you from the Connecticut Challenge. On Saturday, July 25, the Connecticut Challenge bike ride passed through Newtown. On behalf of the 480 cyclists and 175 volunteers, I would like to thank all the people of Newtown who helped to make our fifth anniversary ride a great success.
Every cyclist, young and old, who rode in the event raised a lot of money to support cancer survivorship programs at hospitals across Connecticut. We thank the many Newtown residents who participated in the ride as cyclists and as volunteers and, of course, we are grateful to residents who made donations to our ridersâ fundraising efforts. Some residents along the bike route even hung brightly colored balloons from their mailboxes to show their support for our riders. Finally, thank you to the selectmen and the police department who made it possible for our cyclists to pass through Newtown safely.

Sincerely,
