Irving C. Zacher
Former Newtown resident Irving C. Zacher, 80, of Manchester Township, Penn., died Tuesday, June 10. He was the husband of Rita B. (Bastyr) Zacher, to whom he was married for 53 years.
Mr Zacher was born March 15, 1923, in Chicago, Ill. He was a self-employed small business advisor for 25 years, until he retired in 1991.
He was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club and a longstanding member of St Rose of Lima Catholic Church, both in Newtown.
He was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in Africa. He earned a masterâs degree in 1950 from the Carnegie Institute of Technology.
Mr Zacher also is survived by two daughters, Carol Z. Rinkoff of Minneapolis, Minn., and Susan Z. Krushenski of Morrisville, Penn., and by three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on June 13 in York, Penn. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. The funeral arrangements were handled by Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Road, York, Penn.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donorâs choice.
