Ban Robocalls Outright
Ban Robocalls
Outright
To the Editor:
I read with pleasure the Editorial Ink Drops in the November 10, 2006, Bee. You made excellent points concerning the exceedingly annoying automated phone calls made during the recent political campaign. I believe your solution, however, falls short of meeting the needs of the recipients of the phone calls.
To allow these calls to be made if introduced by a live operator does not eliminate the basic problem, receiving unwanted calls at all times of the day. In our case, the number reached five or more on a number of days. Recipients of these calls have their lives and often their meals unnecessarily interrupted. Senior citizens and the disabled, often the same persons, are particularly disturbed.
The foregoing does not address the often insulting (to intelligence) nature of the calls. Based on all the foregoing comments, I believe robocalls should be totally banned.
Sincerely,
Hank Kessler
