Yoga As A Life Style

Bellur Krishnamachar Sundararaja Iyengar, considered an international master of the art of yoga, once called yoga “the best subjective psycho-anatomy of mankind ever conceived for the experience of physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritual well-being.”

In 1965 Master Iyengar wrote The Light on Yoga, which has been published in 17 languages and is considered by many to be “the magnum opus of yoga.” The book has been called the “fullest, most practical and best illustrated book on the subject,” running into 550 pages with more than 600 illustrations. Light on Yoga begins by answering the question “What is Yoga?” and then goes on to explain in intricate detail how to perform more than 200 postures as well as introduce pranayamas, bandhas, and kriyas.

“Iyengar Yoga” is a study of yoga in such as way as to adapt the practice into anyone’s lifestyle, profession, or work style.

For six weeks, Iyengar Yoga classes will be offered in Newtown. Classes will be at Edmond Town Hall on Tuesday evenings beginning on November 7. Registration closes October 30. Call Nancy Opgaard, 452-7739, for details including class times and fees.
