Family Programs
Parenting Education Program (PEP) Putting Children First is a State of Connecticut program required as a pre-requisite to granting a divorce. Sessions are designed to help families cope with the effects of divorce on children.
Youth Programs
We are looking for a group of youths from either Newtown Middle School or Newtown High School and a group of adults to participate in a Religious Focus Group on the topic of underage drinking. Participants are eligible for community service hours. There will be incentive for this group as well.
The group will meet on Monday, February 20, from 3 to 3:30 pm (youth group) and 3:30 to 4 pm (adults), at the NYFS office. Registration is required; please call us, at 203-270-4335.
Support Groups
NYFS is launching a Womenâs Trauma Group, which will start on Wednesday, March 21. The group will meet for 14 weeks, from 6:15 to 7:30 pm, at the NYFS office.
Cost of the series will be based upon insurance provide, and those without insurance will be eligible for our sliding scale. Registration is required.
The goal of this psychoeducational group is to help women become stronger and move forward in their lives. Each week we will focus on developing skills to deal with current life problems which might be related to past trauma.
