TRUMBULL – The Christian Heritage School boys’ soccer team in Trumbull was recently presented with the annual Jack Mullady Sportsmanship Award by Gary Klar, president of the Southern Connecticut Soccer Officials.

Christopher Kessler of Sandy Hook was a co-captain of the team.

The award is based on individual team sportsmanship ratings submitted by officials after each game of the regular season. The 24 teams competing for the award are members of the Western New England Prep School Athletic Association (WNEPSAA), the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) and the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA).

In his presentation, Mr Klar noted, “it is a great honor for a school to be recognized this way. The Christian Heritage team, however, was far and awar the lead point earned, exhibiting the traits of sportsmanship to which all teams should aspire.”

The CHS boys’ varsity soccer team finished second this past fall in the New England Christian Schools Athletic Conference (NECSAC) regular season and tournament. In the conference championship, CHS suffered a 1-0 loss, with the conference title going to The Masters School of West Simsbury.

At the close of the tournament, Kessler – a senior – was honored by the NECSAC with the Conference Outstanding Sportsmanship Award.

CHS was founded in 1977 as a private, regional, interedenominational Christian day school.
