Anna ‘Nancy’ Finnegan

Wife, Mother, Grandmother, And

Teacher

Anna “Nancy” Finnegan, 68, of Newtown, died February 7. She was born in New York City, April 24, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Anna and Robert Burlinson, the stepdaughter of the late Alexander Burlinson, and for 43 years the proud wife of her best friend, Gerald Finnegan.

A graduate of Mount St Ursula Academy, the College of Mount Saint Vincent, and the City University of New York, Mrs Finnegan was a special education teacher in New York City Public School 71, and later Trumbull Public School System. She was proud to have initiated and taught the first two years of the St Rose of Lima kindergarten program.

Mrs Finnegan resided in Newtown for 41 years and was active in the Hawley School PTA and the St Rose of Lima CCD programs.

Her children Amy Finnegan of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Diane Finnegan Paolino, and husband Michael, of Wakefield, R.I., and Gerald Finnegan, Jr, and wife Julienne, of Hollis, N.H., survive Mrs Finnegan. God blessed her with four grandchildren, as well. Her brother Robert Burlinson and his wife Mary Anne of Burlingame, Calif.; sister Diane Burlinson Farah and her husband George of Scarsdale, N.Y.; in-laws Patrick Finnegan of New York City and Agnes and John McCaffrey of Toms River, N.J.; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins also survive her.

The family would like to thank Dr Robert Cooper and his staff at Danbury Praxair Cancer Center for their care and compassion for the past five years.

The family will receive friends at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, Monday, February 13, at 10 am. A funeral mass will take place at 11 am. A private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
