Kite Contest Winners

About 20 contestants took part in the Parks & Recreation/Newtown Bee’s 14th annual kite flying contest Sunday, May 7, at Ram Pasture.

According to coordinator Rayae Giampetruzzi of the Parks & Recreation Department, participants shrugged off the heat and lack of wind to loft their kites to the sky. Everyone had a good time.

This year’s winners were:

Highest Flying: Timothy Ullrich and Ryan Cole

Most Colorful: Sarah Poarch and Erica and Elyse Knapp

Best Kite Flyers: The Ashbolt Family

Smallest Kite That Flies: Erin Moulthrop

Best Homemade Kite: Bradley Capeci and Emily Ashbolt

Most Unusual Kite: Eric Terhar and Stephen Ashbolt

Largest Kite: Laura Boff

Longest Tail: Charlie Poarch and Stephen Moulthrop
