Activities And Events

Senior Health Day is Wednesday, May 25, from 8:30 to 12:30. Seniors need to receive a pass/fail mark on their report card and transcript. If a student is absent, they will need to complete an alternative assignment to get credit. Seniors will not be able to graduate if they do not complete this health requirement. It is a day full of workshops and assemblies. Attendance will be taken. Contact Mrs Blanchard at 426-7646 for more information.

The Senior Dinner Dance will be held at the Ethan Allen Inn in Danbury on Thursday, June 9, from 6 to 11. The dinner dance is now free! For those who have already paid, their checks are being returned via mail. If you plan to attend, pick up a ticket in the cafeteria. Information has been sent home about this. Please see your class advisor for further information.

The Senior Class Trip will be to Seaside Heights, N.J., on Friday, June 10. Students will leave at 6:30 in the morning and return home around 8:30 pm. The trip is now free. Students must fill out a permission slip and hand it in by May 27. For those who have already paid, checks are being returned via mail. For further information please see your class advisor.

The Last Day of Classes for seniors will be Monday, June 13. Finals begin June 14 and continue through June 17. Make up exams for seniors will be held on Monday, June 20.

Graduation Rehearsal will be held in the NHS auditorium on Tuesday, June 21, from 8:30 to 11:30 am. Students will receive their cap and gown at rehearsal as well as up to ten tickets for family members to attend graduation. Students may decorate the cap; decorations must, however, be appropriate. Students must attend the rehearsal to participate in graduation ceremony. A free lunch will be given by the culinary students beginning at 11:30.

Graduation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, at 6:30 pm, at The O’Neill Center on the West Side campus of WestConn. There will be a bus that leaves NHS at 5 for students who wish to leave their cars at the high school. The bus is not mandatory. The graduation speakers as voted on by the seniors are Mr Tolson and Mr Hall. They will speak together. The four marshals voted by the seniors to walk with them at graduation are Mr Hiruo, Mr O’Sullivan, Mr Obloj, and Mr Foss. The class valedictorian is Maggie Boushell. The salutatorian is Krishna Patel.

Reminder: Watch your attendance. If you would like an updated report of your attendance see Mrs Powers in the Attendance Office. Return all books to the library, all textbooks to teachers and sports uniforms to Mr Simon. Seniors will not receive their diploma until everything is handed in or fees are paid.
